Shaken, not stirred and utterly bingeable.
As Q might say to agent James Bond, before handing him an exploding pen, or the keys to an underwater car: pay attention, 007! As of the first week of March, nearly every single official James Bond movie is streaming on Netflix. Here’s what’s omitted and why Bond will rule your March.
After receiving a license to kill, British Secret Service agent James Bond (Daniel Craig) heads to Madagascar, where he uncovers a link to Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), a man who finances terrorist organizations. Learning that Le Chiffre plans to raise money in a high-stakes poker game, MI6 sends Bond to play against him, gambling that their newest '00' operative will topple the man's organization. In terms of canonical James Bond films, the only movies Netflix doesn’t have right now are three Daniel Craig movies: Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre. But, they do have everything else, including Craig’s first outing as 007, Casino Royale (which is his best one anyway.) Here’s the list, sorted by Bond actor, and then, chronologically, by theatrical release, which is not how Netflix will sort them for you.
Sean Connery
Dr. No (1962)
From Russia with Love (1963)
Goldfinger (1964)
Thunderball (1965)
You Only Live Twice (1967)
Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
George Lazenby
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969)
Roger Moore
Live and Let Die (1973)
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Moonraker (1979)
For Your Eyes Only (1981)
Octopussy (1983)
A View to a Kill (1985)
Timothy Dalton
The Living Daylights (1987)
License to Kill (1989)
Pierce Brosnan
GoldenEye (1995)
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
The World Is Not Enough (1999)
Die Another Day (2002)
Daniel Craig
Casino Royale (2006)
Keep in mind, if you want to watch in true chronological order, you’d watch On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in-between You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever because Lazenby jumped in there for one movie in between two Connery films.
Like the three newer Daniel Craig movies, Netflix’s Bond fest also excludes the non-canon Connery movie Never Say Never Again and the Peter Sellers spoof version of Casino Royale.
Our recommendation for the binge? Watch Casino Royale first and work your way backward. Or, just watch From Russia With Love right now because it’s batshit crazy and you probably haven’t seen it in a long, long time.
